Cavs nearly double up Cougars
Class A No. 10 Culver Community landed four players in double figures en route to a 60-31 Northern State Conference girls basketball win at New Prairie on Friday.
Kayla Shaffer led the way for the Cavs with 17 points, 10 rebounds, seven steals, and six assists, followed closely by Donna Zehner with 16 points and 11 rebounds. Angela Lewellen and Mickella Hardy chipped in 12 points apiece for Culver.

Argos girls bowling beats St. Joe; Argos boys fall
The Argos girls bowling team recently beat South Bend St. Joe 20-0 and lost to New Prairie 12-8 in Baker games.
Game scores from the St. Joe match were: Jamie Ewing 138-170, Gabby Bennett 101-128, Liz Hack 109, Cassidy Morris 85-69, Brittani Brown 127-148, Chelsea Bradley 81. Argos scores from the New Prairie match were 1175-1197 total pins. Bowling for Argos in that match were Jamie Ewing, Brown, Hack, Bradley, Bennett and Morris.
Meanwhile, the Argos boys team lost both their matches, 17-3 to St. Joe and 20-0 St. Joe.
Scores from the first game were: Ben Boberg 91-87, Donny Ruh 75-94, Tyler Ringer 99-101, Brian Boberg 115-124. In the second game, the Dragons lost 1140-825 total pins. Bowling for Argos were Ben and Brian Boberg, Ruh and Ringer.
Next action for the ladies will be team sectionals on Jan. 16 at Chippewa Bowl. Boys’ team sectionals will be Jan. 18 at Chippewa Bowl. Singles competition will also be Jan. 18 at Chippewa Bowl.
