Community Calendar

• Plymouth Optimist Club “Friend of Youth” meets from 7 - 8 a.m. at the Ponderosa Steak House. You are invited to join us for breakfast and informative speakers. The Optimist Club focuses on the youth of our community, and other community projects.
• The Knitting Group at the Marshall County Council of Aging/Life Enrichment Center will have a guest instructor. Janet Meyers will show us how to knit a small bird. Participants should bring 1 skein of baby or sock yard and 5 double pointed knitting needles size 1. This class will be from 9-11 a.m. The address is 1305 W. Harrison St., Plymouth. The class is free and all are welcome.
• The Marshall County Soil and Water Conservation District invites the public to attend its 63rd Annual Meeting and Banquet at the Pretty Lake Trinity United Methodist Church in Plymouth. The evening’s activities will begin at 6:30 p.m. with a buffet, followed by a short business meeting and presentation of high school Soil Judging Awards. The featured speaker for the evening is Mark Booth - Take Flight!, a live, birds of prey wildlife presentation. Tickets for the buffet are $10 each. Reservations can be made by contacting the SWCD office at (574) 936-2024 Ext. 3 or by email at There is no charge or reservation needed to attend the meeting only, which will immediately follow the meal. The District’s Annual Report will be available at the meeting.
• Curious about what it takes to learn to fly? Want to try something new for the New Year? The Mentone Flying Club is hosting a free eight week private pilot ground school beginning today. Classes meet weekly from 7-10 p.m. at the Rochester airport terminal building. Visit for more information or contact for questions and to reserve your spot.
• Kiwanis Club of Plymouth meets from 12 pm – 1 pm at Ponderosa. We “serve the children of the world” with a special focus on improving the lives of children in our community. Join us for lunch and informative speakers. New members are always welcome.
