Argos lands 5 in Indiana Elite game

ARGOS — Argos seniors Kalya Prochno and Karlee VanDerWeele headline a list of Lady Dragons invited to play in the Indiana Elite North vs South All-Star Girls Basketball Challenge. 
Prochno, a 6’0” forward/center led the Lady Dragons in scoring with 259 points (11.8 ppg). She also led the team in rebounding with 231 (10.5 rpg) which ranks her first all–time for the program in single season rebounds.  Prochno recorded 11 double/doubles in points/rebounds during the season.  She had 32 steals, 17 assists, 11 blocks and shot 64.9 percent from the field to finish a stellar season. Prochno ranks seventh all-time in career scoring with 718 points and was selected as the team MVP.
VanDerWeele, a 5’8” guard, scored 212 points (9.6 ppg) on the season. She totaled 101 rebounds (4.6 rpg), 71 assists (3.2 apt), 39 steals and eight blocks. VanDerWeele ranks 13th all-time in career scoring (483 pts) for Argos. She won the Mental Attitude Award and Dragon Award to close out her career.
VanDerWeele and Prochno will play for the 1A North Seniors vs. the South 1A Seniors at 10:30 a.m. ET on April 20 at Lebanon High School.
Also selected to play in the Indiana North vs South All-Star Girls Basketball Challenge are Lady Dragon juniors Shelby Sanders, Amanda Middleton and Libby Moyer.
Sanders, a 5’6” guard averaged 6.0 ppg on 133 points, led the team in assists with 74 (3.4 apg) and finished second on the team with 36 steals (1.6 spg) while clutching 56 rebounds (3.9 rpg). She also led the team in 3-pointers made with 34 and received a Dragon Award.
Middleton, a 6’1” center, averaged 4.7 ppg on 104 points at a 41 percent clip, 98 rebounds (4.5 rpg), led the team with 14 blocks and notched 13 steals and 14 assists.
Moyer, a 5”10” forward, averaged 5.3 ppg on 105 points earned at a 44-percent field goal percentage and was second on the team with 111 rebounds (5.6 rpg) while recording 20 steals, 17 assists and 8 blocks.
Sanders, Middleton and Moyer will join Culver Community junior Kayla Shaffer and will play for the 1A North Juniors vs. the 1A South Juniors at 9 a.m. ET on April 20 at Lebanon High School.
The 1A games will be followed by 2A, 3A, and 4A junior and senior games throughout the day at Lebanon High School. The Indiana Elite North vs. South All-Star Challenge is an all state, open nomination, approved non- profit organization by the IHSAA that affords the opportunity for junior and senior players to display their talents. College coaches from Indiana, Michigan, Wisconsin, Kentucky, Ohio and Tennessee are invited to the All-Star Challenge.
