HAMLET — Oregon-Davis senior Ashley Campbell was named an IBCA/ Subway Player of the Week after setting a new career scoring mark in the Lady Cats’ Bi-County Tournament game with Argos last week.
The 5-6 Campbell was cited in girls’ District 1 after she scored 35 points and became the all-time leading scorer for Oregon-Davis (13-2) in an 84-37 victory over Argos. The Northwood University (MIch.) recruit added five rebounds and seven steals while sinking 14-of-18 field goals, 4-of-5 3-pointers and 3-of-3 free throws. She moved her career scoring total to 1,636 points, breaking the previous school mark of 1,606 held by Aubrey Minix.
Joining her on the weekly list were James Blackmon Jr., Hammond Noll senior Larry Crisler, Madison junior Nick Macon, Southmont senior Alexa McKinsey and Columbus North junior Ali Patberg as Week 11 recipients (Jan. 20-25) in the recognition program overseen by the Indiana Basketball Coaches Association.
This is the sixth season for the Indiana Basketball Coaches Association Player of the Week program and the second season it is presented by Subway Restaurants of Indiana, a banner sponsor of the IBCA.
Player of the Week winners are chosen each week from each of the IHSAA’s three districts. Girls winners will be chosen from now through the week following March 8. Boys winners will be chosen from now through the week following March 29.
