Mishawaka downs Plymouth
Plymouth’s volleyball team lost its Class 4A Penn Sectional semifinal with Mishawaka in three close games Saturday afternoon, 25-22, 25-23, 25-17.
Mishawaka went on to fall to host Penn in three games in the championship, 25-21, 25-14, 25-12.
Emily Eveland led the Lady Pilgrims in three statistical categories with 13 kills, 15 digs and five blocks, while Hunter Stevens finished with eight kills and four blocks, and Libbie Portteus recorded six kills and four blocks.
Haley Harrell set 31 assists to go with 12 digs behind Cassi Quissell’s 14 and ahead of Ellen Smith’s 11.
Lacy Poczik managed five blocks at the net for the Pilgrims, who finished out their season at 15-18.

Lady Lions fall in 4
Bremen’s volleyball team jumped out to an early one-game lead on Westview but couldn’t hold on in an eventual 19-25, 25-23, 25-11, 25-16 loss to the Warriors in an early semifinal at the Central Noble Volleyball Sectional in Albion Saturday.
Westview went on to win the championship with a three-set victory over host Central Noble, 25-14, 25-16, 25-11, Saturday night.
Cassie Sears led Bremen’s attack with an impressive 24 kills to go with three aces and two blocks, while Chelsea Huppert finished with 14 kills and two blocks for the Lady Lions.
Sabrina Gilley racked up 41 assists, Brooke Fitch finished with 22 digs, and Rachael Czarnecki recorded nine digs as Bremen closed out its season at a respectable 22-13.
