Brmen Police Chief: No home invasion in Bremen

BREMEN — THIS CORRECTS INFORMATION REPORTED IN THE PILOT NEWS YESTERDAY BASED ON DISPATCH INFORMATION.

Police Chief Matt Hassel told the Bremen Enquirer that the call to the 4000 block of East County Line Road at 3:30 a.m. Wednesday was determined to not have been a homeinvasion.

"A lit candle caught the sofa on fire," Hassel said in an email late yesterday.

Wednesday morning, police and fire were dispatched to the home in what was believedto be a "home invasion", based on scanner reports. Hassel said the fire department was able to ventilate the home without incident.

At about 3:30 a.m. police and fire were dispatched to a Bremen address for what was described by county dispatchers as a home invasion. No official report is available at this time.
