Walk/run planned for Bremenite with cancer
BREMEN — A walk/run is being organized for June to help a Bremen resident diagnosed with a rare form of cancer pay for treatment.
Ginger Smith, race director, is seeking sponsors and donations for “Eye Jog for Jake” 5K OffRoad Walk/Run.
This race is being held to raise funds to cover medical expenses for 26-year-old Jake Sahlhoff, a Bremen resident diagnosed with a rare form of cancer.
Sahlhoff was diagnosed with adenocarcinoma in August 2012, according to Smith.
This rare form of cancer has a poor prognosis unless treated with the most cutting-edge treatment, which is offered in Florida. Jake does have insurance, however, he was denied for unexplained reasons which are currently under investigation.
To prevent metastasizing, he pursued treatment with faith and a profound amount of support.
The race funds will be donated 100 percent to Jake’s medical costs.
It will be held at Jane’s Park in Bremen at 9 a.m. Saturday, June 22.
The race has been approved through the town and received positive feedback.
Smith said would be grateful for any type of donation. Sponsorship can be in any of the following ways:
Donate as a free-will offering.
