Vote for your favorite Plymouth-area Scarecrow
PLYMOUTH - Pilot News and WTCA The Chief are sponsoring “The Best Scarecrow Contest” awarding the top three vote winners with free advertising.
With scarecrows sprinkled around town, residents are encouraged to visit participating area businesses and vote by using an entry blank in the newspaper or at the radio station. Just write down the top three favorite scarecrows and turn them in.
Local businesses were invited to build or buy a scarecrow and place it out front of their business for the week of Oct. 20-26.
There are a variety of scarecrows to vote for with the friendlier looking scarecrows found at the Learning Center, Java Trail and Peregrine Heating & Cooling as they all sport a big smile to the much scarier ‘Bridezilla’ themed scarecrow of Felke Florist.
L&K Serendipity got creative and created scarecrows inspired by “Duck Dynasty” while the Marshall County Museum’s “Huckleberry Queen” inspired by woman who left an impression in the area in the 1880’s.
The scarecrow outside of the Coldwell Banker Real Estate office and those outside the Edward Jones and Allstate offices reflect their business, a theme many of the more than four dozen competitors.
At Young’s appliances on Jefferson Street, a refrigerator is transformed into their scarecrow entry. At Bowen Printing, a bride and groom are featured along with a wedding invitation. And at a few of the businesses, such as Penguin Point, the scarecrow is clad in a uniform.
Some businesses have even named their scarecrows. The two entries at First Source Bank are named “Ben Savin’” and I-need-a Loan.”
Each scarecrow is unique and visible for area residents to vote on their favorite before voting closes on Saturday, Oct. 26.
Photos of most of the entries are loaded into a photo album on the Pilot News Website. The community can check out these photos, visit local businesses and cast their vote for their favorite.
