ARGOS — Victor Maynard Reese, 88, of Argos, died April 25, 2014 at 5 a.m. at Kindred Nursing and Rehabilitation, Bremen. He had been in declining health for several months.
He was born June 22, 1925 in Rochester to Lloyd and Donna (Collins) Reese. He has lived in the Argos community since 1965 coming from Rochester.
On June 22, 1952 in Knox, he married Ann Edith (Benninghoff) Reese; she preceded on Feb. 21, 2014.
Maynard was an insurance agent having worked for Farm Bureau and State Farm Insurance Companies. He later became an independent insurance agent and started MR Insurance.
He attended Argos High School and was a veteran of the United States Army Air Corps serving with the 3535th Maintenance Squadron from April 3, 1946 to March 11, 1949 when he received his Honorable Discharge.
Maynard and Ann were members for over 30 years at the Jordan Baptist Church, Argos. He is a member and attended the Faith Baptist Church of Plymouth.
He is survived by a son — William “Hugo” Reese and friend Elizabeth Coffin of Argos; grandsons — Benjamin Guy Reese of South Bend; Paul Lloyd Reese of Warsaw; Mark Andrew Reese of Elkhart; and two great-grandsons; special family friend — Carma Murray and friend Stan Leedy of Plymouth; brothers — Wayne Reese and wife Bernice of Warsaw; and Richard Reese and wife Cora of Denver; sisters — Maxine Fish and husband Dale of Rochester; and Bonnie Baker and husband Wayne of Mentone; and sister-in-law – Evelyn Reese of Rochester.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, daughter — Jennifer Reese, and brother — Gene Reese.
Friends may visit with the family on Wednesday, April 30, 2014 from 10 a.m. - 12 p.m. at Earl-Grossman Funeral Home, 208 N. Michigan St., Argos.
Funeral services will follow the visitation at 12 p.m. April 30, 2014 at the funeral home, Rev. Paul Whitworth of Faith Baptist Church, Plymouth officiating.
Burial will be at Rochester IOOF Cemetery, Rochester.
