WALKERTON — Thomas Alan Goins, 58, died Tuesday, Sept. 17, 2013 in Miller’s Merry Manor. He was born in Anderson on May 24, 1955 to Howard and Irene M. (Powell) Goins. Thomas was a 1972 graduate of Misissinewa High School and moved to Galveston, Texas, graduating from Galveston College. He served in the United States Army from August 1974 to July 1980. Thomas obtained a Registered Nurse degree and worked as a critical care nurse in the University of Texas Hospital at Galveston. He also worked for 10 years with the Southwest Transplant Alliance transporting donated organs to donor recipients. He played softball with his co-workers on the hospital team. He loved to play golf and visited several of the famous golf courses around the country.
Survivors include his father, Howard (Mary) Goins, Marion; son, Nathan (Jennifer) Goins, Indianapolis; daughter, Amanda (Nick) Fisher, Carroll, Iowa; grandchildren, Colin, Megan, Bria and Brendan; brother, Mike (Shelley) Goins, Bremen; three nephews; and eight great-nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Irene Goins.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 21, 2013 at Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral Service, Storey Chapel, 400 E. Main St., Gas City.
Funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 21, 2013 at Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral Service, Storey Chapel, 400 E. Main St., Gas City with Reverend John Powell officiating. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Gas City.
Memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 50 E. 91st St., Suite 100, Indianapolis, IN 46209-4830.
