Student artwork, employees hired and other items decided in Argos

October 24, 2013

ARGOS — The following are some of the highlights from the Argos School Board meeting:

• Fourteen students won the Superintendent’s Art Contest and will have their art framed and hung in the Central Office. They range from grade three to high school seniors.

• The Eco Club’s field trip to Mammoth Cave was approved, as was the Leo Club’s participation in the annual Argos Lions Fruit Sale. $500 was given to the BPA Club by Michael and Judy Delp.

• Fourteen men and women were hired for 16 extra-curricular athletic positions, and 10 volunteers to the athletic program were appointed.

• In ISTEP and ECA statewide testing results, elementary grades three, four, five, and six were all reported to have scored above the state average. Junior high English/language arts scores were down, while math scores were up. High school students were above the state average in English/language arts, while the tenth graders were slightly lower in Algebra I.
