Stolen anchor recovered in Culver

October 15, 2013

A Culver family has had a cherished item recovered, following a theft reported in last week's edition of The Culver Citizen.

A large, aged boat anchor found in Lake Maxinkuckee 37 years ago by the Esposito family of the 800 block of Lake Shore Drive had been stolen late in the early morning hours of Sept. 20 from the front yard of the property. According to Chad Becker of the Culver Police Department, an officer from the department working the early morning hours at approximately 2:30 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 6, found the white painted anchor as it had been left in some bushes alongside the roadway within a few blocks of the Esposito residence.

The victim has been notified of the recovery and the investigation is still active, notes Becker. Should anyone have information pertaining to the person(s) responsible, they should still contact the Culver police at 574-842-2525.
