Starke county under burn ban

July 19, 2012

Starke County is once again under a burn ban. At Monday’s regular meeting of the Starke County Commissioners, Ted Bombagetti, director of Starke County Emergency Management Agency, reported that 87 of the 92 counties in Indiana are under a burn ban. The ban applies to all open outdoor burning. Residents were also advised to be very careful with closed burning such as outdoor grills.
Commissioner Dan Bridegroom also expressed concern about conditions at the Starke County Fair. He said, “The Fair Board has been very proactive with equipment operated by concessions at the fair, but the grounds are extremely dry. Everyone needs to be very cautious, especially when discarding cigarettes.”
