Sky Knights to take over Bremen skies

July 3, 2014

BREMEN -- The Sky Knights, a Bremen-based model aircraft club, will hold its annual Corn and Sausage Fly-in on Sunday, July 13 at the group's flying field. The field is located just south of Bremen at 5593 Fir Road.

Gates for the event will open at 9 a.m. There is no charge and the public is invited to attend at any time during the day from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

There will be a meal available at the fly-in from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. including sweet corn, sausage and a drink.

A variety of large and small radio control gas and electric-powered model aircraft will be exhibited and flown. A key attraction will be Lee Watkins of South Bend and Chuck Hamilton of Bremen simultaneously flying their WWII scale fighter aircraft.

Over 50 aircrafts are expected to be onhand from clubs around the area. Modern, WWI and WWII scale aircraft will be flown and shown.

All frequencies are allowed, including 2.4.

Coordinator Tony De Rosa stated that the event is an opportunity to bring in flyers from all over the area. Last year, around 75 flyers attended the event with their model airplanes.

"It also serves as an afternoon for people who come to come own and watch," De Rosa added.

There will be safety director on duty at the flight line throughout the day and there will be no landing fees

For more information, contact De Rosa at the Bremen Hobby Shop at 574-546-3807 for more information about the club.
