Sharks attend clinic

Plymouth Sharks attend Mutual of Omaha Breakout Clinic
NAPPANEE — Fifteen swimmers attended a four-hour clinic Saturday, Sept. 25 at NorthWood High School, led by Olympic Gold Medalist swimmers Josh Davis and Peter Vanderkaay.
Vanderkaay, who is still in training for the Olympics, took the day off from his training in Michigan to speak and swim with about 70 are swimmers ranging in ages 8 to 18.
"Davis did most of the talking and was a great motivational speaker!" said Sharks Coach Leanne Senter. "Both men presented their personal 'swim stories,' got in the water to demonstrate and 'race' the kids, as well as posing for pictures and signing autographs."
The swimmers were taught drills and techniques for all four of the competitve strokes as well as stretching and nutritional tips.
"It was obvious to everyone in attendance that both men loved the sport of swimming," Senter said, "and the opportunities the sport gave them and that they enjoyed sharing and educating young swimmers everywhere."
The clinic was sponsored by the WaNee Waves Swim Club of Nappanee.
