Rockies rally to force tie with NorthWood

September 29, 2010

PLYMOUTH — It wasn't a win, but the Rockies refused to give up a loss on Senior Night.
NorthWood broke a 1-1 tie with a Trent Jacobs unassisted goal in the 77th minute resulting from some miscommunication in the Plymouth backfield, but the Rockies stayed composed, and Andrew Youst found the back of the net on a Francisco Jasso assist less than a minute later to force an eventual 2-2 Northern Lakes Conference tie at Kindt Field Tuesday.
"We talk about resiliency, and tonight two times we go down and two times we tie it back up. And especially when there are only two or three minutes left in the game, a lot of times kids lose their composure, and we didn't tonight, and that's the kind of progress we want going into sectionals next week," said Plymouth head boys soccer coach Josh Martin. "It really meant a lot to not just the seniors, but all the players that we came out with a positive result in this game. Although we wanted to win, we had some opportunities around their goal that we didn't quite finish, so that's kind of a bright spot for us too."
