Road conditions hazardous

PLYMOUTH - In a release from the Indiana Department of Transportation: The snow has picked up dramatically in the last hour. Crews are out plowing and salting, but many roads in this area are covering fast.

Officials are urging people to postpone travel on these roads -
U.S. 31, U.S. 20 Bypass, SR 933, SR 2, SR 23, SR 331, or parts of U.S. 30 in the South Bend, Mishawaka and Plymouth areas - until crews have had a chance to catch up.

"When snow falls this fast, despite our best efforts, some roads can be slick and snow-covered," a IN-DOT spokesman said. "Don't expect ideal driving conditions in weather like this. Slow down, and if you can, wait it out a bit."

A lake effect snow watch remains in effect for the area until midnight.
