WALKERTON — Richard E. Bliley, 68, of Walkerton passed away at 2:42 a.m. Wednesday, June 4, 2014 at Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center, Mishawaka. He was born on Feb. 10, 1946 in South Bend to the late Joseph and Dorothy (Housour) Bliley. On June 18, 2011 he married the former Rebecca K. Barnett.
Mr. Bliley is survived by his wife, Rebecca K. Bliley; former wives, Lorraine Bliley of Mishawaka and Jane B. Moore of Houston, Texas,; children, Terri Jo (Chris) Winsett of Mishawaka, Kippi Bliley of Sugarland, Texas, Casandra (Frank) Foyt of Houston, Texas, Jason Richard Bliley of South Bend, Katherine (Christopher) Cundiff of South Bend, Deanna (David) Hughes of Walkerton and Christina (Eric) Egbert of Ft. Wayne; 17 grandchildren; one great-grandson; brother, John (Pam) Bliley of South Bend and nephew, John Joseph (Katie) Bliley. He was preceded in death by his former wife, Donna Lynn Hall.
Mr. Bliley was a lifelong area resident. He was a police officer for the University of Notre Dame. He previously worked in law enforcement as the police chief in Walkerton, Plymouth, North Liberty, Lakeville and prior to that he owned Protector’s Security and Investigation Inc. of South Bend. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Plymouth.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, June 9, 2014 at North Liberty Elementary School Gymnasium, 400 School Drive, North Liberty. Graveside services and burial will follow at Southlawn Cemetery, South Bend. Friends may visit with the family from 1-5 p.m. Sunday at the school. Palmer Funeral Home-Guisinger Chapel, South Bend is assisting the family with arrangements.
