Bettcher powers Lancers over Culver
Five different LaVille players finished with two RBI each, and the Lancers beat Culver 12-8 in a Northern State Conference game Thursday at Culver.
Ryan Bettcher went 4-for-5 at the plate with three stolen bases and three runs. He was one of five different Lancers who doubled, along with Quentin Herbster, Dalton Sauer, Anthony Singleton and Jason Duerring.
Culver fell behind 9-2 in the first two frames and never fully recovered. George Alvarado doubled and Collin Stevens took the loss on the mound.

LaVille shells Culver
LaVille jumped out to a 10-run start in the bottom of the first en route to an eventual 22-1, five-inning defeat of visiting Northern State Conference foe Culver Thursday.
Hannah Herbster got the win on the mound and tripled for LaVille, as did Tiffany Craft and Kendra Borton, while Brittany Norton doubled twice for the Lady Lancers, who collected 12 hits against Culver.
Madelyn Strycker got the start and the loss for the Lady Cavaliers before being replaced inside the circle by Janelle VanDePutte in the first.

Rochester dimes Bremen
Bremen collected just two hits against Rochester’s Leighnee Smith, and the Lady Lions fell 12-0 in five innings on the road Thursday.
Mikayla Gardner got the loss starting inside the circle and was replaced by Saylor Bailey in the first inning as Rochester jumped out to a 2-0 lead. An eight-run fourth put the Lady Zebras out of reach as Rochester remained unbeaten at 18-0.
Bremen slipped to 5-10 with the loss.

Girls tennis
Plymouth loses at Northridge
Plymouth’s girls tennis team suffered a 4-1 Northern Lakes Conference loss on the road at Northridge Thursday.
The Lady Pilgrims’ only win came on the 1 doubles court, where Marissa German and Andria Shook beat Olivia Erkson and Amy Stoffel in a competitive 6-4, 7-5 match.
Plymouth slips to 2-3 in the NLC with a 5-4 overall record. The team will play a makeup with Culver Girls Academy today at 4:30 p.m.

Boys golf
Triton tops, Bremen splits 3-way with OD
Triton moved to 13-0 in dual meets with a score of 166, while Bremen split the three-way at home at Sprig O’Mint by beating Oregon-Davis 185-236.
Quentyn Carpenter and Ryan Rapp led Triton with dual 40s, Chandler Slone shot a 42, and Tanner Shepherd turned in a 44 for the Trojans.
Brad Foster carded a 44 to lead Bremen, followed by Micah Knoblock’s 45, Kevin Woodyard’s 47 and dual 49s from Nate Strehler and Sky Allen.
Blake Hurford paced OD with a 49, while Fran Turner shot 60, Jack Minter shot 62, and Sam Reese carded a 45 for the Bobcats.

LaVille wins 3-way
LaVille won a three-way meet at Swan Lake Thursday, beating Elkhart Memorial 160-168 and Adams, which carded a team score of 195.
Zach Gurtner fired off a 1-over-par 37 to lead LaVille, while Cam Gurtner and Blake Berger both shot 40, and Zach Hostetler turned in a 43.

Plymouth falls at Senior Night 3-way
Plymouth lost to both Concord and Warsaw in a triangular Northern Lakes Conference three-way track meet on Senior Night at home Wednesday.
Dan Samuelson won the shot put and finished second in the discus ahead of Adam Lacefield in third.
Plymouth also placed second in the 3200 relay and the 1600 relay.

Glenn drops 2 at NSC three-way
John Glenn finished at the bottom of a Northern State Conference three-way meet with Jimtown and New Prairie at home Wednesday.
Joe Mahank won the individual 3200, while Luke Runyan, Josh Shank, Cameron Mester and Alex Crump won the 3200 relay, Runyan placed second in the 1600, and Josh Bolen was second in the 800 for the Falcons.

Glenn girls top triangular
John Glenn’s girls track team edged out New Prairie by two points, and the Lady Falcons topped the pile at a Northern State Conference three-way meet at home Wednesday.
Emily Schmalzried won the 100 hurdles, placed second in the 300 hurdles and was a winner on Glenn’s winning 1600 and 3200 relay teams, while Jenna Adams was a winner on both relays and placed second in the 800. Morgan Eggleston won both throwing events, Katie Dreessen was a winner on the 1600 relay and finished second in the 400, and Joy Moore won the high jump for the Lady Falcons.

Lincoln boys beat Triton
The Lincoln boys track team beat Triton on the road, 89-20.
A.J. Styers won the discus, the 110 hurdles and ran on Lincoln’s winning 400 relay, Trevor Neidlinger was first in the 100, 200 and in the 400 relay, Jack Barron was first in the 800, on the 400 relay and 1600 relay.
Steve Helm placed first in the 400 and on the 1600 relay, Terrance Hooten was a winner on Lincoln’s 400 and 1600 relay teams, Colton Schuler won the long jump, Josh Anders was first in the high jump, Chris Noodwang placed first in the 1600, Damien White won the shot put, and Kam Ray was a winner on the team’s 1600 relay team.

Lincoln loses to Triton
Lincoln’s junior high girls track team lost a meet with Triton 66-43.
Victoria Stylers broke the Lincoln school record in the 100 meter dash with a time of 12.7. She also placed first in the 1600 relay with Brittani Splix, Allie Dennie and Audrey Pratt and second in the long jump. Rachel Crawford was a double winner for Lincoln in the 1600 and 800, while Shannon Stephenson won the shot put, and Anna Bockman was first in the high jump.
