Argos bows out
The Argos softball team bowed out with a 13-2 loss to host South Central in the Sectional 51 opener Monday night in Union Mills.
South Central now advances to face the winner of Mondayâ€™s other quarterfinal between Westville and Marquette Catholic tonight with a game between Northern State Conference foes Culver Community and Triton scheduled to follow.
Missy Golden and Charlie Horn each finished with two hits for Argos. Horn tripled and Golden drove in a run. Allison Flower, Raelynn LaFrance and Cylie Hartman all scored runs in the season closer.
Flower struck out eight while surrendering three walks and 10 hits in the complete game. She was credited with giving up just five earned runs as the Dragons were out-hit by a narrow 10-9 margin but committed seven errors to close out the year at 8-12.

Panthers shell Lancers
NorthWood simply shelled LaVille with 18 hits for 24 runs, and Tanner Cleveland pitched a complete-game shutout of the Lancers in a 24-0 rout on the road in Lakeville Monday night.
Dominic Miranda went 4-for-4 with five runs, two doubles and two RBIs to lead the prolific Panthers at the plate. Hunter Lane was 3-for-4 with a double, two RBIs and a run, and Trent Sellers drove in four runs with two hits.
Cleveland surrendered just three hits and struck six while surrendering five walks in the win on the mound. He also homered at the game.
Dalton Sauer took the loss for LaVille, giving up seven earned runs off five hits with three walks and one strikeout before the Panthers chased him in the second. Chris Bailey gave up six earned runs on eight hits and a walk lasting until the fourth.
Jordan Smith doubled for the Lancers.

CMA dimes Pioneer
Culver Military put up 11 runs in the first two innings en route to a 14-4, six-inning diming of visiting Pioneer Monday.
Seven of the Eaglesâ€™ 15 hits were for extra bases as Trent Kolden homered, Kyle Bartelman and Colin Raver both tripled, and Perley Provost, Colin Dean, Drew Schroeder and Zach Moffett all doubled for the Eagles.
Kolden and Raver finished with two RBIs apiece.

NorthWood wins Bob Turner Classic
NorthWoodâ€™s boys golf team beat out a stacked field that included Carrol, Warsaw and Triton, while the Trojans finished fourth just two strokes back of the Tigers at the Bob Turner Classic at Tippy Lake Monday night.
NorthWood was led by Dylan Gessingerâ€™s runner-up round of 1-under 69 behind Carrol medalist Garrett Leeperâ€™s incredible 65. Logan Kauffman finished in a three-way tie for fourth with a score of 74.
Quentyn Carpenter finished third with a 71 for the Trojans, while Ryan Rapp carded 74 to tie with Kauffman for third.

Culver Communityâ€™s boys golf team fell five strokes short of South Central in a 180-185 loss on the road in Hamlet Monday.
The Cavaliers were led by Trent Elliottâ€™s match-low round of 40, while Cody Peterson and Tristan Schultz shot 45 and 49, respectively. Kenny VanDePutte rounded out the Cavsâ€™ team score with a 51.
South Central was led by Austin Howellâ€™s 43 as four of the Satellitesâ€™ top five finished in the low to mid 50s for the win.
