College softball
Poor defense contributes to Ancilla losses
The Ancilla College softball team was swept in MCCAA Western Conference action by Lansing Community College 11-6 and 9-2.
Ancilla combined for 11 errors in the doubleheader, allowing just six earned runs.
In game one, Emily Wilbur, Kayleigh Schroeder, and Cortney Ferrell had two hits each. Plymouth alum Marissa Sullivan threw a solid four innings in relief, striking out four and allowing just one earned run.
The second game saw Schroeder stay hot, racking up another two hits.
Big innings hurt the Chargers in both games. In each game, Lansing put together six-run innings to nullify any offensive production by Ancilla.
The Chargers now hit the road for back-to-back conference games. On Thursday they meet up with Lake Michigan College and on Friday they travel to Kalamazoo Valley Community College.
