Plymouth keeps cruising
Plymouth’s wrestling team continued cruising in the Northern Lakes Conference with a comfortable 45-22 win on the road at Elkhart Memorial Thursday night.
The Rockies won nine of their matches, including pinfall wins by Corey Wallace, Drew Dodson, Jesus Rebollo and Nolan Wright. Triston Rodriguez, Jeremy Splix and Aaron Houin all won by major decision, meanwhile, as Plymouth moved to 6-0 in the NLC and 17-1 overall after finishing second at the John McKee Memorial Invitational at Rochester over the weekend.

Boys basketball
Triton slips at ECA
Triton’s boys basketball team let a 24-22 halftime lead slip in the second half at Elkhart Christian, and the Trojans fell 53-41 Thursday night.
Skyler Reichert knocked down a trio of 3s on his way to a team-high 13 points, while Tanner Shepherd scored 11 and Masen Yeo finished with seven in the loss, which drops Triton to an even 4-4.
Cory Waycaster led a balanced ECA offense with 16 points, while Kenny Bearss scored 10, Drew Overmyer finished with nine, and Tanner Watson put up eight.
Triton travels to John Glenn for a Northern State Conference game Saturday at 7:30 p.m.

Bremen jumps on Bethany
Bremen jumped out to a a 17-4 lead in the first quarter en route to its second win of the season, a 50-40 victory over visiting Bethany Christian at home Thursday night.
Joey Atkins led the Lions offense with 16 points and five assists, while Ryan Topper flirted with a double-double with 14 points and nine rebounds. Austin Adams finished with nine points and five rebounds for Bremen, which moved to 2-4 on the season.
Bremen travels to LaVille for an NSC game tonight at 7:30 p.m.

Girls basketball
Box and Bremen beat Bethany
Micaela Box dropped 15 points, and Bremen’s girls basketball team earned a 51-35 victory over host Bethany Christian on the road Thursday.
Jasmine Schafer scored 13, while Sara Slabaugh, Rachel Czarnecki and Chelsea Huppert finished with eight, seven and six points, respectively, for the Lady Lions, who moved to 4-6 on the season with their first win of the new year.
Bethany was led by Darlenne Maust’s game-high 16 in the loss, which drops the team to 5-7.
The Lions host LaVille in NSC action Saturday at 7:30 p.m.

Indians top Bremen
Bremen’s boys swim team lost a 116-69 home meet with visiting South Bend St. Joseph Thursday.
Krent Hueni won the 50 and 500 free races, Beau Beeson won the dive competition, Tom Serf won the fly, and Nolan Filcahk won the backstroke in Bremen’s only wins of the night.
Filchak was second in the 200 free, meanwhile, and Will Serf was second in the 200 free.

Conner Mathews won the dive competition, and C.C. Bastardo placed second in the 50 free in Plymouth’s top finishes of the night.

Lady Lions lose to St. Joseph
Bremen’s girls swim team lost a 115-71 home meet with visiting South Bend St. Joseph Thursday.
The Lady Lions opened the meet with a comfortable win in the medley relay by Katie Lafferty, Jessica Bollenbacher, Mattie Hershberger and Kaitlyn Ahlenius but couldn’t hold on to the early lead. Lafferty won the 50 free and 100 free, and Bollenbacher won the breaststroke for the Lady Lions. Hershberger was second in the backstroke.

Plymouth’s girls swim team lost by a 140-42 margin on the road at NLC foe Concord Thursday.
Jessica Drury was second in the individual medley in the top finish of the night for the Lady Pilgrims.
