SOUTH BEND — New game, new stakes, same result.
The last time Plymouth’s Pilgrims faced Mishawaka back on Feb. 19, they claimed a 52-34 win on their home court at The Rock. Plymouth opened Class 4A Sectional play with a similar 53-34 victory over the Cavemen Wednesday night.
“It’s always a rugged game when you play against them. They’re a physical team, and we try to play physical as well,” said Plymouth head coach Ryan Bales. “I thought eventually our defense started to pick up, especially in the halfcourt, and did a great job of keeping them out of the paint.”
The Pilgrims snapped a 6-6 tie at the first quarter break with a 14-3 second quarter that pushed the visitors on the scoreboard out to a comfortable 20-9 halftime lead.
