Emojean Taulbee
April 25, 2013
KNOX — Emojean Taulbee, 77, of Knox, passed away Thursday, April 25, 2013 at Porter Regional Hospital, Valparaiso.
Emojean was born Jan. 13, 1936 in McLaughlin County, Kentucky to Ham and Pruda Cole, both preceded her in death.
On Aug. 13, 1960, Emojean married James Taulbee in Knox, Indiana.
Emojean worked at Walker Manufacturing in Culver before her retirement.
She was a woman of devout faith, who loved spending time with her family — her children and grandchildren were the light of her life.
Emojean loved the simple life. She was a great southern cook, who enjoyed dishing up heaping helpings of home-cooked goodies for anyone who was fortunate enough to stop by.
Games were also one of Emojean's favorite pastimes. She was an avid Bingo player, who regularly attended Bingo at places across the county. Emojean was also a member of a Bunco club for many years.
Family would often gather at the home of Emojean and her late husband, James to spend countless hours pitching horseshoes, sitting around a bonfire, grilling out or playing euchre. Their door was always open to family and friends.
Camping, fishing, and spending time with family at reunions or gatherings along the Tippecanoe are among the many things that Emojean enjoyed doing.
Emojean was a kind, giving woman who had a great sense of humor — she will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.
A testament of the love Emojean inspired is best reflected in the last words her son James shared with her: "I'm going to love you forever; and I am glad God gave me to you."
Emojean is survived by her children: James (Cheryl) Taulbee, of Knox; Howard (Becky) Taulbee of Monticello; Kevin (Renee) Taulbee of Monticello; Jeanne (Chad) Haddix of Gardner, Kansas; and Pamela (Adam) Messer of Knox; 18 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren; Brothers: Israel (Verna) Cole of Knox and Daniel (and the late Flossie) Cole, of Knox; countless nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, great-great nieces and great-great nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ham and Pruda Cole; her husband, James; siblings: Ishmel Cole, Ruth Collins, Ruby Montgomery, Arpha Fletcher, and Beatrice Richie; two grandchildren: Christina Marie Messer and Tyler Matthew Taulbee.
Visitation will be held Sunday, April 28 from 4 to 8 p.m. at Braman & Son Memorial Chapel, Knox.
Funeral services will be held Monday, April 29 at 1 p.m. at the funeral home.
Emojean will be laid to rest next to her husband James in Highland Cemetery, North Judson.
