Lady Pilgrims hold off Warsaw

December 20, 2013

PLYMOUTH — It was back into the win column for Plymouth’s Lady Pilgrims over an NLC opponent as they beat the Warsaw Lady Tigers in a defensive slug fest Thursday, 32-26.
Both teams struggled to find anything offensively as each defense clamped down in drastically different ways — Plymouth in their patented man-to-man and Warsaw with a 2-3 zone. In the end the Plymouth offense was spurred by — what else? — tighter defense.
“We felt we really had to tighten the defense up a little bit so we ran splits and really tried to take the elbow away from about four minutes on,” said Plymouth head coach Dave Duncan. “We took away their high-low game, and they had to make jump shots.”
