House of Holly helps community

NAPPANEE -- Members of the Psi Iota Xi sorority spent their Sunday afternoon at the House of Holly inside the Nappanee Center.
Over 140 people passed through, purchasing tickets for three dollars each for the auction, selling Christmas-related items for local charities.
Cheeseballs were also for sale, along with refreshments.
Each room in the center had a number of items to choose from for the silent auction.
House of Holly is one of three major fundraisers including the geranium flower sales and basket bingo programs in the spring.
The majority of the funds raised by Psi Iota Xi go back into the Wa-Nee community to help with speech and hearing programs and fine arts programs.
The Eta Zeta Chapter of Psi Iota Xi was started in Nappanee in 1967. The women of the sorority volunteer locally at blood banks, Apple Festival and other events.
To join, women must be over the age of 18 and have a high school diploma or GED, pay dues, attend monthly meetings and participate in volunteer opportunities.
