CULVER — Herman D. Artist, 82, departed this life to rest with the Lord surrounded by his family. He will be remembered as a loving husband, proud father and best friend to many.
Herman is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Jean Ann (Brock) as well as four daughters: Denise A. Blankenship, Spartanburg, S.C.; Colleen A. Schumacher, Treasure Island, Fla.; Pamela J. McDonald, Lapaz;  Zinnia A. Artist, South Bend and one son, Anthony L. (Karen);  brother Ira B. of Plymouth; sisters Dorothy Mann of Knox, Edna May Mann of Ocala, Fla.; Betty Sausman of Holiday, Fla. Also left to cherish his memory are six grandchildren; Julianna, Cleveland, Lauren, Max, Hannah, Hailee and two great-grandchildren; Shyenne and Madalynn. Preceded in death are sons Daniel L. and Randy N.; brother Harry E. and sister Ruth Shuttleworth.
A celebration of life service will be held for Herman on Saturday, Aug. 2, 2014 at Kewanna Church of Christ, 116 S. Logan St., Kewanna. Visitation will begin at 12:30 p.m. and service at 1:30 p.m.
In honor of Herman’s wishes, his body was donated to Indiana University School of Medicine. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to I.U. School of Medicine Anatomical Education Program, Room #MS 5035, Indianapolis, IN 46202 or to the charity of your choice.
