ETNA GREEN — Harold Blankenship, 79, of Etna Green, passed away of natural causes on Thursday, May 1, 2014 in his home.
Harold was born in Phelps, Ky., March 6, 1935 the son of Roscoe and Gracie Pearl (Lester) Blankenship. He married Bertha Wolford in Silver Lake on Oct. 28, 1959, she survives.
He worked and retired from Mallard Coach and attended school in Phelps, Ky. Harold was a Veteran of the Korean War serving his country in the United States Army from Nov. 3, 1959 – Jan. 25, 1962.
Harold is survived by his wife; Bertha, daughter; Patty Garber and son; Danny Blankenship both of Etna Green. He was also blessed with grandchildren: Courtney Garber, Keith Newman and Trevor Blankenship, a sister; Kathy Remfrey of Warsaw, three brothers: Garney Blankenship of Warsaw, Virgil Blankenship of Phelps, Ky. and Emzy Blankenship of Freeburn, Ky.
Preceding in death were his parents, son; Harold D. Blankenship, Jr. (Dec. 8, 2006), sisters: Viria Blankenship, Orpha May Ogle, Gladys Marie Layne, Wanda Lou Blankenship, brothers: Willard Blankenship and Foy Blankenship.
Harold was a dedicated husband, son, brother and father (Papaw) and will be greatly missed.
In honoring his wishes, there will be no services at this time.
