Glenn snaps Triton streak at Marshall County golf meet
CULVER — All things must end.
After six straight Marshall County Tournament Championships, Triton finally relinquished its hold on the county trophy Saturday, as Glenn carded a 340 to beat out the defending-champion Trojans by 11 strokes and take the tourney hardware home to Walkerton.
Bremen was third behind Triton with a 359, LaVille was fourth with a 364, CMA placed fifth with a 369, and host Culver Community rounded out the field with a 399 at Mystic Hills in Culver.
“For the last six years we’ve never been able to get over the Triton hump. We knew they were still very strong this year. Bremen turned the front nine really well, and everybody was bunched up after nine holes. All the kids knew it was going to be whoever performed the best on the back nine,” said Glenn head coach Randy Schmeltz.
“It was a good win. We haven’t done it for a long time. Triton’s won six in a row so it was nice to break that streak. I look forward to the rest of the season.”
