PLYMOUTH — Gene A. Holdeman, 71, Plymouth, passed away Wednesday, Nov. 6, 2013 at 5:15 p.m. in Bremen Health Care Center with his family at his side.
Gene was born Jan. 15, 1942 to Melvin and Esther (Sarber) Holdeman at Bremen.
He has been a lifelong resident of the area.
Gene was known by many golfers who played at Sprig-O-Mint Golf course. He was the groundskeeper and always had a smile for those who were privileged to hit a ball his direction. He had worked at Dodge Manufacturing of Mishawaka and had owned the Bremen Bowling Lanes for several years. In his spare time he loved farming, being outside, drag racing and all the activities of his grandkids and their sports events. Anything that involved family and friends you would find Gene there. “His smile was beautiful” and will be greatly missed by all.
Gene married Judy Ann Early on June 16, 1962; she died April 20, 1991. He is survived by his daughter; Gina (Mrs. Marty) Cannoot of Lakeville, his son; Todd Holdeman of Plymouth and his grandchildren; Ashley Holdeman, James Rose, Craig and (Amber) Cassel, Chase Cassel and fiancé Lenae Bennett and great-grandchildren: Kennedy Cassel and Raigen Cassel. He was further blessed with his sisters; Ruth Ann (Mrs. Allen) Graber of North Webster, Carol (Mrs. John) Wagoner of North Webster and a brother, Fred and (Linda) Holdeman of Lakeville.
Proceeding in death were his parents, his wife, a son, Kevin (Sept. 9, 2001), great-granddaughter Jailyn and two brothers; Ralph and Charles.
You are invited on Friday, Nov. 15, 2013 to share memories with the family from 2 - 6 p.m. at Deaton-Clemens Funeral Home, 115 S. Main St., Bourbon.
A celebration of Gene’s life will follow at 6 p.m. with Pastor Tom Padberg of Center for Hospice and Palliative Care officiating.
