NAPPANEE — The Lee Anne Stewart Dance Schools’ 39th annual dance production is a celebration of many well-known and not so well-known holidays which commemorate life’s accomplishments and simple pleasures. “Celebrate the Date,” this year’s annual dance production, is the culmination of training and a celebration for the studio’s hard-working dance students.
“The show begins with a New Year’s celebration and progresses through the year,” says Lee Anne Stewart, exclusive owner and operator of the dance schools. “The final dance is a celebration of Christmas performed to a Jackson 5 medley. Finding the songs to match celebrations and keeping them in order through the year was a challenge, but the end result is a rewarding and entertaining show for the dancers and audience.”
The Nappanee studio will hold its performances at Warsaw Community High School Performing Arts Center Saturday, June 9, at 7 p.m. and Sunday, June 10, at 4 p.m. Performances will also be held for the Syracuse studio dancers at Warsaw Community High School Performing Arts Center on Friday, June 15, at 7 p.m.; Saturday, June 16, at 7 p.m.; and Sunday, June 17, at 4 p.m. Tickets for all productions are $8.50 each.
June will mark the close of Stewart’s 39th year of teaching dance in the greater Wawasee area. A second studio was opened in Nappanee in the fall of 1996. Both studios host students from many surrounding communities including Goshen, Leesburg, Warsaw, Bremen and Bourbon among many others.
Some of the songs audiences will enjoy at this year’s show include “Toothache,” “Waltz of the Flowers,” “Doctor Wanna Do” and “Armed Forces.” Also during the productions, more than 50 students will receive awards for 5, 10 and 15 years of taking classes at the Stewart Dance schools.
“I’m so proud of each of the students performing, but I love recognizing the young dancers who reach these milestones in their dance education,” Stewart said.
Information regarding summer classes and programs, as well as information for enrolling in fall classes and auditions for the Stewart Fusion Dance Teams, is available online at www.stewartdanceschool.com, or by calling 1-877-658-9875. Classes are offered to students ranging in age from 3-and-a-half years through adult in pre-ballet, ballet, jazz, tap, pointe and hip hop. The dance schools are located south of Syracuse on 300 East and on the third floor of the Main Street Suites in Nappanee.
