Dale L. Stephenson, age 72, passed away early in the morning of Aug. 1, 2014, after a brief illness. Dale was born Jan. 22, 1942 in Plymouth to the late Paul O. and Mary R. (nee Carl) Stephenson. He graduated from Argos High School in 1960 and Purdue University in 1964 with a degree in animal science and agronomy.
Dale was commissioned in the U.S. Army Medical Service Corps as 2nd Lieutenant, and later achieved the rank of Captain. Dale served during the Vietnamese conflict from 1965-1967 at 7th Field Hospital in Japan. There he met his wife of 46 years, Marguerite M. (Smith) Stephenson and they were married on Staten Island, N.Y. on Aug. 3, 1968.
Survivors include his wife, Marguerite and five children; Judith A. (Kevin) Kubsch of Lakeville, Daniel B. (Colleen) Stephenson of Argos, Nora L. (Craig) Rodarmel of Ft. Royal, Va., Carolyn K. Stephenson, of New York, N.Y., and Keith L. (Sarah) Stephenson of Indianapolis. Also surviving are eight grandchildren, a great-grandchild, and his sister, Janet A. (John) Wilkins of Washington.
Dale worked in agricultural sales and management for 40 years and retired from Wilfarm, Agriliance LLC, and Land-O-Lakes. He had a great love for his family and enjoyed farming and traveling. He was an extraordinary husband and father, and cherished his grandchildren.
Visitation will be held from 4-8 p.m. Monday, Aug. 4, 2014 at Chapel Hill Funeral Home in Osceola. A rosary vigil will be held at 7:30 p.m. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 5, 2014 at Chapel Hill with entombment and military honors to follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Osceola.
