Culver’s Elliott an IBCA Player of the Week

CULVER — Culver Community’s Trent Elliott was selected as one of three boys IBCA/ Subway Players of the Week for his work in a rout of Morgan Township Saturday.
The 6-4 Elliott was the boys District 1 honoree after scoring 38 points in leading Culver Community (3-0) to an 84-58 win over Morgan Township in its only game of the week. The Fairmont State (W.Va.) recruit sank 14-of-20 shots from the field, including 6-of-8 3-pointers, plus 4-of-5 free throws. He also added seven rebounds, three assists and two steals in the contest.
Indianapolis Howe junior Harris Brown headlined the honorees, and he and Elliott are joined by Connersville sophomore Tyler Billups, Chesterton senior Caroline Puntillo, Tipton sophomore Macie Lively and Owen Valley senior Alicia Wilson as Week 4 winners in the program overseen by the Indiana Basketball Coaches Association.
This is the sixth season for the Indiana Basketball Coaches Association Player of the Week program and the second season it is presented by Subway Restaurants of Indiana, a banner sponsor of the IBCA.
Player of the Week winners are chosen each week from each of the IHSAA’s three districts. Girls winners will be chosen from now through the week following March 8. Boys winners will be chosen from now through the week following March 29.
