The top five students at Culver Community High School, class of 2012 are (in alphabetical order): Aspen Kitchell, Joseph Krsek, Kalee Miller, CamÂeron Turney and CassanÂdra VanSky.
Graduation exercises are Friday, June 1, at 7:30 p.m. in the school’s gymÂnasium. Albert HanselÂman, Principal, will present the class and Brad Schuldt, Superintendent, will award the diplomas.
Aspen Kitchell, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Chuck Kitchell, was a two-year member of National Honor Society and president her senior year. Aspen was a 4-year memÂber of Chorus, Drama club (Secretary 11), Community Alliance for Voluntary Service (CAVS), and volleyball.
For three years she was in French Club (vice president ‘11) and was a basketball manager. For two years she was in Band, Student Council, and secretary-treasure of her class. For one year, Aspen was on the Academic Super Bowl Team and played basketball and softball. She was also a Girls State Delegate and received the Lions Club outstanding student award for choir. Aspen will attend Purdue UniverÂsity, West Lafayette where she will pursue an UndergraduÂate Studies Program.
Joseph Krsek, son of Mr. and Mrs. Steve Krsek, was a member of National Honor Society for two years. For four years he was a member of the Academic Super Bowl Team, Art Club, Community Alliance for Voluntary SerÂvice (CAVS), Culver Youth Community Organization (CYCO), football and golf. For two years he belonged to Business Professionals of America, basketball and was vice president of this class.
Joe was a Boys State Delegate and received the Lions Club Outstanding Math Award. Joseph will attend Purdue University and study engineering.
Kalee Miller, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Larry Miller, was a two-year member of National Honor Society and was vice president her senior year. For four years she was a member of the Academic Super Bowl Team, Spanish Club and Culver Youth ComÂmunity Organization (CYCO) for which she was co-president her senior year. For three years she belonged to Business ProfessionÂals of America (vice president 12), CommuÂnity Alliance for VolÂuntary Service (CAVS) Co-President 12, and played volleyball. She was vice president of her class for two years and played basketÂball two years. For one year she was president of her class and played soccer. She was a Girls State Delegate and received the Lions Club Outstanding SciÂence and Social Studies Awards. Kalee will attend Ball State UniÂversity to study Psychology.
Cameron Turney, daughter of Ms. Sheri Back was a member of National Honor Society for one year. For four years she was a member of Business Professionals of America, Chorus, Spanish club and Science Club (secretary ‘12). For three years she was in Drama club (secretary ‘12) and Community Alliance for Voluntary Service. She was on the Academic Super Bowl Team for two years. For one year she worked on the Caval Crier, (school newspaper), was in band, and was a soccer manager. She received the Lions Club Outstanding Business, Drama, English and Spanish Awards. Cameron will be attending Ball State University to study English.
Cassandra VanSky, daughter of Mrs. Suzanna Wakefield and Mr. George VanSky. She was a two-year member of National Honor Society. She belonged to chorus all four years. For three years she was in Drama Club. For two years she belonged to Community Alliance for VolunÂtary Service (CAVS) and was co-president. For one year she was a member of Science Club, Spanish Club, StuÂdent Council and Culver Youth Community Organization (CYCO). She was also a Girls State Delegate. Cassandra will attend Indiana University at South Bend to study SciÂence/Pre-med.
