CCHS grad turns artistic skill into successful Marshall County business

PLYMOUTH — Dressing up driveways and walkways, Concrete Creations based out of Plymouth transforms plain concrete into art.
Concrete Creations provides quality concrete for residential and industrial clients, specializing in decorative concrete. The process creates the appearance of exotic stone, marble, brick and worn cobble-paving.

The company was started in 2001 by Culver Community High School grad (and today Plymouth resident) Antonio Alexander. He had previously worked with a construction outfit and decided to go out on his own venture. Wife Tasha Alexander has assisted with the business since its creation.

“He just had that passion and he wanted something he could do himself,” said Tasha. “If you’re an entrepreneur you have to think, ‘what can I have that stands out from other people but I can actually make a profit and turn over?”

The pair began by doing house projects including their own patio, having a set up in their basement. Learning through reading and practicing the process.

“It was like a science lab down there (in basement),” said Mrs. Alexander. “The thing I love about this is that we did our house. I spend a lot of time out there in the summer. I think that’s why people go with the outside concrete patios because its inviting.”

The business provides a number of services including new concrete construction, such as driveways, patios, walkways, pool decks, stamping and coloring. Services for existing concrete include resurfacing, cleaning, acid etch staining, garage floor coatings and sealings.

“It’s a really nice product, it has a lot of diversity and we are very diverse,” added Tasha.

Some of the processes that include seamless industrial epoxy floors, dyed/stained basement floors, stamped concrete and the epoxy flake system.

“It’s like tattoo, it’s artistry but on a different level.”

Tasha explained how the metallics and staining can provide a cost effective alternative to carpet or tile in the basement or garage.

Concrete Creations also does exterior hardscapes, outdoor seated walls, fire pits and even countertops made from a lightweight aggregate material. The business recognizes concrete is an investment and provides a product that ranges from affordable to the more expensive depending on design.

According to Tasha, Concrete Creations goes the extra mile to provide a product that will have the best opportunity for the concrete not to crack through their process. She clarifies all concrete will crack but the business attempts to add longevity to their product. Aside from their residential work, the business also caters to industrial flooring.

“We’ve been offering this for awhile. Not everybody knows about the industrial pieces that we do; it’s kind of discouraging because people don’t know how to get service when we’re right here in Indiana.”
