Surprised with special recognition during the April 5 Culver Community High School Sports Spectacular event was Regina Anderson (pictured at right), who was nominated for the Northern State Conference Award as she prepares to retire this spring after 39 years of CCHS service.

CCHS athletic director Andy Thomas(left) said Anderson, who takes phone calls and greets each guest at the school, also coordinates workers -- along with the A.D. -- for school athletic events. She’s worked the football ticket gate for every game in the program’s history (except the night of her daughter’s wedding rehearsal dinner!), has handled the scoreboard for volleyball games, runs the clock for girls varsity basketball games, and runs field events for home track meets.

“Mrs. Anderson has been an MVP for us for almost 40 years,” said Thomas.
“Her contribution to the students of the Northern State Conference is commendable, and we recommend her for this distinguished honor without reservation.”
