Bremen's TIF to expand

July 3, 2014

BREMEN -- Last Monday's Bremen Town Council meeting was preceeded by a meeting of the Bremen Planning Commission, previously approved by the BZA, to approve a resolution to expand the Tax Increment Financing District at at the new Coleman Cable at Plymouth Street and North Street and the new Universal Bearings property.

"We want to include those two areas to get the taxes we should be capturing," Town Manager Trend Weldy explained. During the time of the original resolution, since the two areas did not have buildings in their vicinity, they were neglected due to their lack of profitability, however with the new buildings coming in, the town will be able to capture addition revenue from the factories.

The Bremen Town Council meeting also included discussion of the on-street parking changes for local Bremen street. IT has been recommended that no-parking signs be placed along East South Street between Alexander Street on the north side of the road, East Bike Street between Center Street and Washington on the north side of the road, the 300 block of North Washington Street on the west side of the road, the 200 block of North Montgomery Street on the west side of the road, the 200 block of North East Street on the east side of the road and Dewey Street east of Center Street on the south side of the road.
