Bremen Schools discuss makeup days

March 13, 2014

Bremen Public Schools Superintendent Russ Mikel formally announced his
retirement during the Bremen Public Schools board of trustees regular
meeting Tuesday, February 18. Snow canceled classes that day, but the
board meeting went ahead as scheduled.
"I'd like to thank the board, staff, students and parents for the
years," Mr. Mikel announced. "I plan to continue with my duties
through June 30th."
Mikel spent nine years serving on the board of school trustees. He
plans to stay in the local area. The board agreed to wait until a
later meeting to act on the retirement so they can place it on the
agenda.
Missed school days was another hot topic as school was canceled
Tuesday, adding an eleventh day of missed classes. Schools had already
submitted proposals on how to make up the previous ten days of
classes.
