Boys & Girls Club ‘jazzing it up’ for fundraiser
PLYMOUTH — The Boys & Girls Club of Marshall County will celebrate another successful year while raising money to continue their programs at this year’s February fundraising dinner with the theme “All That Jazz.”
“Last year the theme was ‘Fire and Ice’ and it was a theme I’d always wanted to do,” said the club’s director, Billie Treber. “This year Mary Beth Listenberger said we’d do ‘All That Jazz’ since it’s something that she’s always wanted to do.”
Christos Banquet Center will host the event Feb. 19, beginning at 5:30 p.m. The evening will include a silent auction and special entertainment from the PHS Jazz Band.
“We were really happy to get the kids from the high school to play,” said Treber. She was also pleased to get a special guest vocalist who is also a Boys & Girls Club success story.
“Shelly (Araceli) Ortiz will be singing for us that night,” said Treber. “She was a ‘Club Kid’ and has been a junior staff member for the last three years. She left us to go to the IUSB School of Music this year but she’s coming back to sing for us that night.”
Ortiz is also the current Miss Blueberry and will be joining the Jazz Band for a selection of numbers.
The auction will feature some great items to bid on such as a Wii game system, an outdoor projection system and a vacation package supplied by Oliver Ford.
For the more domestic minds a new Whirlpool washer and dryer will also be auctioned off.
Individual tickets and corporate tables are available now.
Reservations can be made several ways; by calling Billie Treber at the Boys & Girls Club 574-936-0660, by speaking to a Club Board Member or go online and register at www.bgcmarshallcounty.com.
