Bourbon Summerfest kicks off Friday

BOURBON — This Friday marks the 30th annual Bourbon Summerfest.
The Bourbon Summerfest Beauty Pageant will kick off the festival at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 12 in Bourbon Park.

Saturday the festivities begin with a parade at 11 a.m. For those that are wanting their entry to be judged, they must be at the Triton High School Parking lot at 9:30 a.m. For those that are not apart of the judging should be there by 10:30 a.m. At the parking lot, there will be a breakfast provided by the Triton FFA for a low cost.

The Stampede String Band and Elvis Impersonator Quentin Flagg will performing Saturday evening. Stamped String Band will be at 5:30 p.m. and Flagg will perform at 7:30 p.m.

The second night of the festival will come to a close with a fireworks show with free ice cream served before at the Elementary School starting at dusk. It is being put on by the Bourbon Fire Department. There will be a fundraiser for the fireworks on Sunday, July 31 at 6 p.m. at the Gazebo Park uptown. Hamburgers and hotdogs will be served for free. Donations are welcome.

Sunday will begin with United Methodist Church Services at 11 a.m. at the Park Pavilion. Breakfast will be served by the American Legion Post 424 Auxiliary for a small fee at the Park Pavilion.

Times for the festival are Saturday 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. and Sunday 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
