Bock wins Democrat seat to run against Walorski

REGION — Joe Bock, director of global health training at Notre Dame’s Eck Institute for Global Health defeated fellow Democrats Dan Morrison of Elkhart, political newcomer Douglas Carpenter of South Bend and Bob Kern in Tuesday’s primary.

Tuesday, Bock received 10,120 votes, far ahead of his three other opponents. Morrison received 3,150 votes, Kern got 2,200 and Carpenter received 1,513.

Marshall County mirrored the District’s votes, with Bock getting 237 votes, grabbing just over 50 percent of the votes, to Morrison’s 111 (23.87 percent), Kern’s 75 votes (16.13 percent; and Carpenter’s 42 votes (9 percent).
