PLYMOUTH — Arnold H. “Hank” Hite, 88, of Plymouth, passed away at 12 p.m., Tuesday, Dec. 17, 2013, at the Hospiceº House, in South Bend.
Arnold was born Nov. 4, 1925, in Plymouth, to David and Minnie (Moore) Hite. He proudly served his country, in the United States Army, during WWII. He was honored, by our country, with a Purple Heart and a Bronze Star. Arnold married the former Gladys Hertel, in Plymouth, on March 3, 1946. Together they raised their four children. Arnold started his working career, by hauling dirt, and working on farm equipment. He established the Central Transfer Company. After he sold the business, he started working for, and retired from, Hite Equipment. Arnold was a member of the VFW Post #1162, the American Legion Post #27, the Eagles Lodge #1900, the Moose Family Center #741, and the DAV. He was the Commander, of the VFW Post #1162, three times. Hank and Gladys have been hobby farmers since he retired.
Arnold is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Gladys Hite; their three sons, Terry Hite, Larry Hite, and Mike (Geraldine) Hite, all of Plymouth; their daughter, Kim (Stephen) Rans of Plymouth; eight grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and his sister, Maxine Beck of Elkhart. Arnold was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, Loyal Hite, Dale Hite, and Raymond Hite; and his sisters, Erma Paxton, Lena Rogan, and Ruth Redman.
