Anderson powers Triton in win over Judson

November 15, 2010

BOURBON — Triton’s Shana Anderson broke through in a big way Friday.
The lanky sophomore erupted for 23 points, 11 rebounds, and seven steals — all game highs — to power the scrappy Trojans to a 48-43 season-opening girls basketball win over North Judson-San Pierre at The Trojan Trench.
“Shana’s going to be a good player for us in the future and this year,” Triton head coach Adam Heckaman said. “She played a good game, and you could see that she even knew she missed some shots tonight that she should have hit.”
And she saved some of her best work for when Triton needed it most.
With the Trojans trailing 26-22 midway through the third frame, Anderson touched off a 10-2 defense-fueled run, converting 2 of 3 free-throw attempts on a 3-point shooting foul and capped off the spurt with a steal, basket and foul to put Triton up 32-28 at the end of three frames.
