Alice Joan Wallace
May 27, 1939 - July 29, 2014
BREMEN â€” Alice Joan Wallace of Bremen passed away peacefully at her home on Tuesday, July 29, 2014. Alice was 75 years old.
Alice was born on May 27, 1939 to Jacob and Violet (Walters) Klinefelter of Etna Green. Alice was a resident of the Bremen area for the past 23 years and lived previously in South Bend.
Alice married her beloved husband Merlin Wallace on July 28, 1957. Alice is survived by one daughter Susan Jennifer (Mrs. Timothy) Gorski of South Bend, three sons; Thomas Edward (Katherine) Wallace of Charlotte, N.C., James William Wallace of Plymouth and Michael John (Amber) Wallace of South Bend, along with five grandchildren: Sarah, Andrew, Amanda, Matthew, Caramia and one half-brother Jack (Marilyn) Klinefelter of Winona Lake.
Alice was employed by GMAC, Bendix and the U.S. Postal Service in South Bend, Bourbon, North Liberty and Nappanee. Alice served as Postmaster of the Bourbon Post Office in the latter stages of her career.
Alice was preceded in death by her husband Merlin, her eldest daughter Rana Lee, her brother Lowell Klinefelter and her two half-brothers Rex and Robert Burnett. Alice was very much loved by her family and will be remembered as a devoted wife, mother and grandmother.
You are invited Sunday, Aug. 3, 2014 to celebrate Aliceâ€™s life with family and friends from 2-6 p.m. at Deaton-Clemens Funeral Home, 115 S. Main St., Bourbon.
Funeral services will follow at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Aug. 4, 2014 in the Etna Green United Methodist Church with Pastor Joe Lampton of the Etna Green United Methodist Church officiating.
Burial will be next to her husband in the Etna Green Cemetery, Etna Green. The family requests memorial contributions in her memory to: The Leukemia or Lymphoma Society.
