Alfred ‘Sonny’ Klinedinst
Feb. 9, 1940 - July 15, 2013
PLYMOUTH — Alfred “Sonny” Klinedinst, age 73, of Plymouth, died peacefully at his home, surrounded by his family, and faithful canine, “Max”, on Monday, July 15, 2013, at 3:30 p.m.
Al was well known for his loud voice, strong opinions, descriptive instructions, and attention to detail, but more importantly he was loved, appreciated, and cherished by many, for his willingness to offer a helping hand at a moment’s notice. His never-ending knowledge of mechanics, his actions which always came from his heart, and of course his special love for his family, were also traits of this fine man.
Al was born in his family home, near Tyner, on Feb. 9, 1940, to Alfred and Reva (Zentz) Klinedinst. He graduated from Tyner High School in the class of 1958. Al was an over-the-road truck driver, for several years, before driving locally for Coca-Cola Bottling Company and Del Monte. He owned and operated Al’s Garage, for 28 years, and he also enjoyed farming. After retiring, he drove a school bus for the Plymouth Community School Corporation.
Al, and his loving wife Shirley (Nettrouer) Klinedinst who survives, were married for 55 years. They hosted many reunions, numerous holidays, and welcomed spontaneous family gatherings at their home. Also surviving are their children, Julia (Tom) Sampson of Plymouth, Randy (Peggy) Klinedinst of Vero Beach, Fla., Kim (Tim) Kyser of Bremen, and Kent (Julie) Klinedinst, Lebanon; 11 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; his brother, Lewis (Faye) Klinedinst of Plymouth; his sister-in-law, Nenneth Klinedinst of Plymouth; and their families. He was preceded in death by his parents, Alfred and Reva (Zentz) Klinedinst; his brother, Garry Klinedinst; and his grandson.
