The Bremen Police Department listed 17 traffic violations and 13 traffic warnings for the week just concluded.
There are six theft reports, two criminal mischief reports and one each Operator Never Licensed; OWI Controlled Substance; Operating While Intoxicated; Possession Of Marijuana; Operating While Intoxicated/Endangering another person;

Schools Open With Usual Flourish

BREMEN -- The first day of school was the usual flurry of activity, yet preparedness by the staff made it seem seamless.
At the high school, the usual excited chatter, inspection of class lists and figuring out who you know is in class with you made for most of the conversation.
Quickly, the patterns began to be established.
In one history class, the instructor took charge immediately with a 15-question test.
Many students had laptop ‚"issues," so some of them had to fill out answers the time-honored way, with paper and pencil.
In gym classes, the workout room was in full use.

Barr celebrates 50 years in Bremen auto parts

BREMEN -- Dan Barr celebrated his 50th year in the car parts business this past June.He began working at Stacy's Auto Parts (owned by Ernie and Fran Stacy) in 1964 during the summer of junior and senior year in high school. It was a small store behind the Bremen Hotel. In 1965, the store was moved to the old Roeder Chevy Building.

Bremen's TIF to expand

BREMEN -- Last Monday's Bremen Town Council meeting was preceeded by a meeting of the Bremen Planning Commission, previously approved by the BZA, to approve a resolution to expand the Tax Increment Financing District at at the new Coleman Cable at Plymouth Street and North Street and the new Universal Bearings property.

Sky Knights to take over Bremen skies

BREMEN -- The Sky Knights, a Bremen-based model aircraft club, will hold its annual Corn and Sausage Fly-in on Sunday, July 13 at the group's flying field. The field is located just south of Bremen at 5593 Fir Road.

Gates for the event will open at 9 a.m. There is no charge and the public is invited to attend at any time during the day from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

There will be a meal available at the fly-in from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. including sweet corn, sausage and a drink.

Bremen Kiwanis Kids Triathlon held July 19

Due to a spacing issue in this week's edition, the following press release will not be run in this week's edition of the Bremen Enquirer. Information regarding the Bremen Kiwanis Kids Triathlon is listed below:
BREMEN -- The Bremen Kiwanis Kids Triathlon will be held on July 19. The race begins at 9 a.m. at Sunnyside Park in Bremen.
Early registration is $15 per entry, if postmarked by June 28. Entries postmarked between June 29 and July 4 will be charged $25 to compete.
Entries will be divided up by gender and then into two divisions and three sections in each division.

Doctor's Hospital making strides in neuroscopic research

BREMEN- Located on Whitlock Street in this small town just south of Notre Dame and South Bend/Mishawaka, Doctor’s NeuroPsychiatric Hospital and Research Institute is one of few in the nation, which will fulfill a great need today and in the future noted CEO of the facility who spoke not only about their renovation expansion project at the facility but also about generalities of the need for care for those with brain issues.
“Science has been phenomenal extending life, but not keeping brain compatible with those years of life,” said Alan Fisher, CEO of DNPH.
