WARSAW — Donald Howard, 64, of Warsaw, passed away on Saturday, Oct. 25, 2014 at 3:02 p.m. in the Hospice Home, Fort Wayne.
Donald was born Dec. 19, 1949 to Harris Howard and Pearlie (Miller) Howard at Jackson, Ky. He has been a resident of the Warsaw area for several years. Don was a United States Army Veteran serving in the Vietnam War. He retired from Gulfstream Coach as a Quality Control Inspector and he enjoyed playing in bands as a hobby.

SOUTH BEND — Norma Rusk, 90, a proud resident of Plymouth for most of her life, died at 5:30 a.m. on Sunday, Oct. 26, 2014, at Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center in Mishawaka following complications from a fall.
Norma was born in Argos on June 6, 1924 to the late Cecil and Eva (Wallace) Smith. Norma graduated from Lincoln High School in Plymouth with the class of 1944. She served as nurse’s aide in the Plymouth Hospital during World War II.
Norma married Wayne Rusk in 1944.

Teen accused of setting fire to her home

WARSAW — A 13-year-old is believed to have attempted to set fire to her house while her parents were inside last evening in the Barbee Lake area of Kosciusko County.

REPORT: Indiana’s Business Tax Climate Improves, Ranks 8th Best Nationally

INDIANAPOLIS – Indiana’s growing national reputation as a state that works for business has received another boost, according to a press release issued Tuesday by a state agency.

Indiana ranks 8th overall in the Tax Foundation’s 2015 State Business Tax Climate Index, up from 10th in 2014, and remains the top state in the Midwest for business tax competitiveness.

REMINDER: BMV expands hours for voters needing photo IDs

INDIANAPOLIS – Don Snemis, Commissioner of the Indiana Bureau of Motor Vehicles (BMV), announced that BMV license branches will extend hours of operation on Monday, November 3 and on Tuesday, November 4 to issue ID cards and driver’s licenses that may be used for identification at a polling place.

Branches will be open on Monday, Nov. 3, from 8:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. and on Tuesday, Nov. 4, from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m.

City storm drain work nearing completion

PLYMOUTH – Roads have been torn-up, traffic detoured and pipe installed. That means the end of the Bereenbrook storm water project is nearing completion.
Donnie Davidson, utility superintendent, reported to the Plymouth Board of Works Monday evening, that the Beerenbrook, Jefferson Street, Packard Woods storm drain project has proceeded as planned. Davidson stated that whole pipe has been installed.

It's a trashy issue

PLYMOUTH — Plymouth could become a “trashy” town if sidewalk obstruction becomes a major problem.
October 23 Mayor Mark Senter released a statement on Facebook requesting residents to be more considerate about leaving their trash receptacles on the sidewalk for pickup.
