Two industries seeking Plymouth tax abatement

PLYMOUTH — AK Industries, Inc. and Composite Technology Assemblies, LLC were approved for tax abatement by the Plymouth council Monday.

Jerry Chavez, the executive director for the Marshall County Economic Development Corporation, said: “On behalf of the Marshall County Economic Development Corporation board of directors who ask your support for this resolution before you which is valuable that we recognize businesses in the area continually that make capital investments, create jobs, and it’s a tool that you will consider, tax abatement, that allows them to move forward,” said Chavez.

Two wounded,one dead from shooting in Kosciusko County

CROMWELL — Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department Deputies and the Kosciusko County Coroner’s Officer investigated a shooting late Monday evening which has left one man dead.

According to the press release issued at 10:30 p.m. yesterday, officers responded to a 6:50 p.m. 9-1-1 call of a shooting incident that had occurred in the 9000 block of E. Doswell Drive, Cromwell, in Kosciusko County.

Deputies from the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department arrived and secured the scene, locating two male individuals outside the residence with gunshot wounds.

OTTUMWA, Iowa — Emma Jane Davis, 81, died at 7:35 a.m. Aug. 22, 2014 at Timber Ridge Good Samaritan Assisted Living.
She was born Feb. 11, 1933 in South Bend to Ernest B. and Iva Dodge Hawk. She married Donald Gene Davis on March 24, 1956. He preceded her in death on April 21, 2001.
She graduated from American Banking Institute. She worked at Culver Bank in Culver for 24 years, retiring in 1993.
She was a member of North Court Baptist Church in Ottumwa, Iowa and was a lifetime member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary.

WALKERTON — Esther Rosalie Gerber, age 86, passed away Thursday, Aug. 21, 2014. Esther was born in LaPorte on April 26, 1928 to Charles F and Naomi (LaFeber) Hinz. On June 14, 1953 in Walkerton she married Eugene Donald Gerber. He preceded her in death on Oct. 5, 1986.

MENTONE — Floyd W. Rule Jr., 91, of Mentone, died at 10:40 a.m., Wednesday, Aug. 20, 2014 at the Kosciusko Community Hospital Emergency Room unexpectedly.
He was born May 2, 1923 in Kosciusko County to Floyd W. and Hazel (Hollar) Rule.
On June 25, 1949 in Warsaw at his parents’ home he was married to Bernice Klingel; she survives.
He worked for Frank’s Manufacturing as a handyman and a welder for 30 years.
