GROVERTOWN — Anna Hines, 93, passed away Wednesday, Sept. 17, 2014 at Catherine Kasper Life Center, Donaldson.
Anna was born Sept. 21, 1920 in Valparaiso to Albert and Mary Meyers.
On Dec. 17, 1937 in Valparaiso, she was married to Ernest Hines. He preceded her in death in 1998. She was also preceded in death by her parents; four sisters; and two brothers.
Anna was a homemaker and self employed as an upholsterer. Her hobbies included: collecting dolls; sewing; crafts; making stuffed animals; and doing jigsaw puzzles.

PLYMOUTH — David R. Snyder, 42, passed away surrounded by his loving family after a 16 month battle with glioblastoma on Sunday, Sept. 21, 2014 at 10:35 a.m.
Born in Seaside, Calif. on March 6, 1972 David was the son of Melvin Snyder and Rosemary K. (Seibert) Spalty. David lived in the Monterey, Calif. area since birth before his family moved to Plymouth when he was 16 years old. David graduated from Knox High School with the class of 1991.

TIPPECANOE — Jerry Lee Claxon of Tippecanoe passed away peacefully at his home Friday, Sept. 19, 2014. He was 56 years old and his family at his side.
Jerry was born on Sept. 27, 1957 to Thomas H. and Lois (Parsons) Claxon at Ashland, Ohio. He had been a resident of Tippecanoe the past 30 years. He was a 1975 graduate of East Carter County High School, Grayson, Ky. Jerry also served in the United States Air Force from June 18, 1975 until June 15, 1979.

PLYMOUTH — Cecil G. Rankin, age 102, formerly of Plymouth, passed away at 4:30 a.m., on Saturday, Sept. 13, 2014, at the Indiana Veteran’s Home, in West Lafayette.
Cecil was born on July 5, 1912, in Brookston, to George and Lydia (Elston) Rankin. His family moved to Plymouth in 1940. Cecil married the former Alice M. Cain on Oct. 19, 1935. They were married for 71 years, when Alice preceded him in passing, on Jan. 10, 2007.

UPDATE: Boil order for Etna Green rescinded

ETNA GREEN — The problem with the public water supply in Etna Green has been fixed and the boil order lifted, according to a press release from town hall.
Bacteria samples from the affected site were collected and tested and met satisfactory levels.

On Monday, in consultation with the Indiana Department of Environmental Management, it has been determined that Etna Green water customers should boil their drinking water.

Panthers win Warsaw Sectional

WARSAW — It wasn’t necessarily NorthWood’s goal to walk out of the Warsaw Sectional with the championship.
The Lady Panthers goals were more modest: stay out of trouble, beat last year’s score, get one of the top three spots that guarantee a regional berth.
It wasn’t the Panthers’ goal to take home the sectional trophy, but it sure felt good.
NorthWood carded a 348 to beat out second-place Wawasee by 12 strokes and run away with the team’s first-ever sectional championship Saturday at the Warsaw Girls Golf Sectional at Stonehenge.
