DuPont Pioneer celebrates 25 years

PLYMOUTH — Wednesday DuPont Pioneer in Plymouth celebrated their 25th anniversary in Plymouth.
Special guest speakers included the Director of Indiana State Department of Agriculture Ted McKinney and Indiana Governor Mike Pence.

“Plymouth has a very unique growing area,” said Mark Letsinger, production location manager of the Plymouth Pioneer facility. “The great lakes provide a tempered climate which is very beneficial to growing seed corn as well as other specialty crops.”

GROVERTOWN — Ida Ruth Brettin, 85, of Grovertown, passed away at home, where she lived with her daughter Deb (Clifford) Rose and grandson Justin White with her loving family around her.

ETNA GREEN — Douglas Clark, 57, of Etna Green, passed away on Sunday, Aug. 24, 2014 at 10:30 p.m. in his home after an illness.
Doug was born March 17, 1957 to William E. Clark and Betty (Everly) Clark at Bremen. He has been a lifelong resident of Bourbon.
Doug loved to do woodworking making tables and furniture in his spare time. He raised veal and was a dairy farmer. Doug attended Triton High School and The Bremen Missionary Church. He will be greatly missed by all.

ARGOS — Stella Vires, 73, of Argos died Aug. 24, 2014 at 3:22 p.m. at Woodlawn Hospital, Rochester, surrounded by her family following a sudden illness.
She was born Dec. 30, 1940 in Corona, Calif. to Nicholas P. Murphy and Elizabeth (Licon) Murphy. She has lived in the Argos community since 1964, coming from California.
On Oct. 13, 1979 in Argos, she married Charles E. Vires.
She was a housewife-homemaker.

BOURBON — Larry Klingerman, 75, Bourbon, passed away on Monday, Aug. 25, 2014 at 5 a.m. in his home with his family at his side.
Larry was born April 14, 1939 to Floyd C. and Mabel (Flory) Klingerman at Etna Green. He has been a lifelong resident of Bourbon.

ARGOS — Marie Anne Bachtel, 87, formerly of LaPaz, lived for the past 9 1/2 years, with her daughter, Rebecca Joyce who preceded her in death in June 2013, and son-in-law, Paul J. Phillips, and passed to her reward at 7:20 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 23, 2014, at her son’s home. She was cared for in her last illness by her daughter, Mary Bachtel, along with Paul Phillips.

WWII veterans document their stories

PLYMOUTH — Sophomore students from Weidner School of Inquiry teamed up with the Marshall County Historical Society to work on a project documenting the stories of the WWII Veterans and the women that were left behind.
This video clip shows just a small fraction of the information the students were able to collect from the interviews. The complete article will be in tomorrow's Pilot News.

Severe weather storm warning issued

MARSHALL COUNTY — A severe storm warning has been issued for Marshall County.

A storm with winds of 60 miles per hour is likely, with damage to roofs and trees possible.

The warning is in effect until 3:30 p.m. Tuesday.
